Record: 21 – 12 (11 – 7)

Region-Seed: East – No. 6

RPI: 22

BPI: 32

Conference: Big East

How They Qualified: At-Large

After their dream run to win the Big East Tournament last season, the Providence Friars will once again be dancing in March. Expected to drop off with the loss of Bryce Cotton’s scoring ability, the Friars silenced their critics by finishing 4th in arguably the most top-to-bottom difficult conference in college basketball.

What You Need To Know:

Leading Scorer: LaDontae Henton

Leading Rebounder: LaDontae Henton

Leading Passer: Kyle Dunn

Bad Losses: Boston College, Marquette, Brown

Good Wins: Notre Dame, Rhode Island, Butler, Georgetown (twice), Yale

Providence boasts one of the most elite guard pairings in the country, with LaDontae Henton and Kyle Dunn averaging a combined 35.4 points and 16.6 rebounds per game. This two players alone could lead the Friars to an NCAA Tournament victory, but don’t let their numbers fool you. Providence is not a two-man team. Their defense, although statistically average, forces opponents to play to the Friars’ strengths and dictate the pace of the game.

This is a team to watch moving forward, as Providence, once again, makes it to the Big Dance.
