As a No. 2 in both 2014 and 2010, the Villanova Wildcats failed to reach the Sweet 16. 1995 and 1996 saw the No. 3 seeded Wildcats losing in the first and second rounds of the tournament, respectively. The Wildcats made it to the Elite Eight as a No. 1 seed in 2006, and this could be the silver lining fans of Villanova cling to.

The Wildcats earned a No. 1 seed but failed to show up in a January contest against the Georgetown Hoyas. Villanova looked poor in a 20-point defeat to the Hoyas at Georgetown (78-58), and this may be the main piece of film the Lafayette Leopards are consuming.

According to ESPN, Villanova is ranked 139th in men’s Division I in defensive rebounds and just 174th when it comes to wiping the offensive glass. This stat should cause concern, as Villanova will undoubtedly face physical teams in the tourney and won’t be able to stay hot from the field forever.
