Pat Connaughton Saves Notre Dame's Season With Huge Block

By Jerry Landry

Holy cow. Pat Connaughton of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish just returned this Butler Bulldogs‘ desperation heave to sender. Risking losing this game to free throws, Connaughton took the chance, sped around the perimeter and knocked the rock like it was a 96-mph fastball right into Butler’s mascot.

As if this wasn’t enough to illuminate the crowd, Connaughton then hit a clutch OT three-pointer, his first of the game, following the tone set by this momentum-swinging rejection of Butler’s hopes, dreams and eventually the Bulldogs’ season.
