The Texas Longhorns are very lucky to be getting a coach like Shaka Smart. After all, he put the VCU Rams on the map in a big way. Just imagine what he can do for a program like Texas. That said, let's venture off to five reasons why Smart will fix the Longhorns.

Smart coached the Rams to the Final Four in 2011 as a No. 11 seed. That simply does not happen every year. Also, VCU -- especially at the time -- wasn't known for its way-too-talented recruiting classes.

This one is just hard to believe. Sure, VCU doesn't play in the ACC, but the Atlantic 10 is one of the very best mid-major conferences in college hoops. Heck, there are some people who say the A 10 is practically a power conference, if you can believe that. With that in mind, the Rams haven't always been in that conference (they were previously in the CAA).

Players love playing for Shaka Smart. When that is the case, players "work" with their coach instead of against their coach -- it is really that simple.

Pressure aside, coaching for Texas is like being at the top of the food chain. Texas is a big, big name, and not just in football. Basically, any coach could come in and recruit some of the best talents in the country just because of the Texas brand. Therefore, Shaka doesn't exactly have to come in and completely rebuild this program.

Plain and simple, Shaka Smart gets the most out of his players. When it comes to that, he is easily a top coach in college hoops. That said, just imagine how much Smart could get out of some of the most talented players in the sport. Instead of coaching names many people have never heard of, Smart will be coaching players who will eventually play in the NBA.
