The Duke Blue Devils are coming off a great national championship run. And thanks to their impressive 2015 recruiting class, Duke is ready for next season when they will be a national title contender again.
The Blue Devils will welcome five-star recruit Brandon Ingram, five-star Chase Jeter, five-star Derryck Thornton and four-star Luke Kennard. Each player will immediately impact Duke in a positive way, and people will quickly forget about their four-star players from last season because these 2015 recruits are elite and ready for the big stage. Ingram is arguably the best recruit in the class of 2015 because of his elite athleticism and ability to score, but Kennard will also add great scoring and athleticism right away. Kennard is also a terrific outside shooter, which is something the Blue Devils will need now that Quinn Cook is gone.
The Blue Devils will also return Matt Jones, Grayson Allen and Amile Jefferson, who are three key players from last year’s championship run. Allen should be able to step up and take a leadership role on this team because he might be the go-to guy down the stretch since the team will have some young players.
Duke proved last season that freshmen can carry a team to a national championship, so they clearly have the opportunity to repeat in the upcoming season. The Blue Devils have the best incoming recruiting class for next season, and that will be a big reason why a repeat isn’t as farfetched as it may seem with all of their departures.
