The Florida Gators are searching for a new head coach after Billy Donovan took the Oklahoma City Thunder job. With a great returning team and potential recruiting class, whoever decides to take this position will inherit a great team with a lot of first-season potential. Here are five potential candidates to replace Donovan for the Gators.

5. Matthew Driscoll – North Florida

Local and one of the most underrated coaches in the country, the Ospreys’ coach has done a fantastic job with limited resources. If the Gators want a solid hire with little downside, Driscoll is the way to go.

4. Josh Pastner – Memphis

As Pastner continues to fail year after year at Memphis due to underperforming recruits, Florida should be able to lure him away.

3. Kermit Davis – Middle Tennessee State

Davis is unlikely to leave MSTU, but his record with the Murfreesboro-based school is great. Florida would be getting a proven coach who has never had the means to attempt to recruit the top players in the country, something that would change at Florida.

2. Richard Pitino – Minnesota

How much fun would John Calipari and the Kentucky Wildcats facing a Pitino at least two times a year be?

1. Archie Miller – Dayton

Arguably one of the best coaches in the nation, Miller has been impressive in his time at Dayton. He would be able to slide into a talented Gators’ squad and do well immediately.
