The MAC is one of the more underrated conferences in college basketball, picking up some of the best players who slipped away from elite programs. Next season, however, key conference players from the previous season are gone. Luckily, this gives several schools an opportunity to step up and show out in the 2015-16 season. Here are the pre-summer 2015 power rankings for the MAC.

It might surprise many to have the Redhawks on this list, but they bring back so many different players who had significant playing time last season that it’s hard to leave them out.

Shannon Evans and Xavier Ford are gone, so don’t expect the Bulls to be as explosive as they were last season. I still expect them to have some success, though.

3. Eastern Michigan Eagles

Eastern Michigan won’t be an elite team, but they are more than capable of making a run at the MAC Championship late in the season.

2. Western Michigan Broncos

Like most of the teams in the MAC, the Broncos will be hit hard with the loss of key seniors. However, enough players return for this team to have a strong season.

1. Central Michigan Chippewas

With every player who saw at least 20 minutes per game returning, Central Michigan is the clear favorite in the MAC.
