Eli Carter’s decision to transfer to Boston College gives the Eagles a much-needed addition to their depleted roster. Carter struggled to find consistency at Florida in a crowded backcourt, as he only shot 31 percent from three while averaging 8.8 points a game. At Boston College, he’ll have a chance to be just what the doctor ordered.

The Eagles are atrocious at the guard position right now, and they were searching for someone to make up for Olivier Hanlan. Carter averaged 14.9 points in his freshman year at Rutgers, so he is more than capable of leading Boston College’s offense.

At 6-foot-2, 200 pounds, Carter can play both guards position for a team that has no depth at either spot. Boston College was going to head into next season without a legitimate starter at either position. Now Carter will need to play around 32 minutes for the Eagles to have any chance in the ACC. Expect Carter to lead the team in scoring, assists and possibly steals.

With this addition, the Eagles will have some hope of avoiding a spot in the cellar of the ACC. Such a veteran influence will help give the young team some stability until they develop some leaders this summer. Jim Christian hit the jackpot with this commitment. The 24-year-old can be an old diamond for a rough roster that lost all of its luster.

Even if Boston College stays near the bottom of the conference, Carter will provide enough scoring outbursts to keep the fans awake at games.
