The Colorado Buffaloes were an average team at best during the 2014-15 season. They seemed to lose a bit of steam with the departure of Spencer Dinwiddie, and it led to a sub .500 season and a trip to the CBI.

Coming into the 2015-16 season, the Buffaloes look to be a lot more experienced and ready to make an impact in the PAC-12, even if it’s just a small improvement.

Colorado will return key players such as Josh Scott, Xavier Johnson and Wesley Gordon. The only true loss is their leading scorer Askia Booker and few-games starter Dustin Thomas. Johnson recently had surgery on his Achilles tendon, but will hopefully be able to play at some point next season.

The Buffaloes seem to be on the downswing at the moment, but their current roster is more than capable of winning a few big games. The youth on this roster is extremely talented, albeit lacking in big names. Dominique Collier was a highly-touted recruit who must show up this season.

On top of the youth stepping up, Scott and Gordon are going to have to anchor this team as the veteran leaders, and Scott must not underperform this season. Remember, he had nearly identical numbers the previous season, but failed to improve as expected.

Don’t expect Colorado to beat a team like the Arizona Wildcats, but they are more than capable of an upset over the UCLA Bruins or the Utah Utes. If Scott can play to his full potential, expect this team to skirt the edges of the 2016 NCAA Tournament.
