NCAA Sanctions Dropped On SMU Spell Doom For Head Coach Larry Brown

The NCAA strikes again.

This time around, the sanctions have been dropped on the SMU Mustangs and head coach Larry Brown.

Considering Brown is already 75, and SMU had NCAA tournament written all over it, this is quite the hammer being dropped on this program.

Brown being lost for nine games isn’t the end of the world, but the real headache is SMU not being able to make the postseason. Translation: This is basically a lost season for Brown and his team.

A Brown-led team has now been sanctioned three times.

SMU could always appeal, but that process might take some time.

Syracuse was hit with the sanctions back in March and still hasn’t heard appeal ruling from NCAA. SMU appeal could drag until March/April.

Meanwhile, Brown’s future looks very gloom, and the future of this up-and-coming program is also looking a bit cloudy.
