Boston College Basketball's Projected Rotation For 2015-16 Season

No one was shocked by the departure of Olivier Hanlan. His playmaking was the only thing that made Boston College games exciting last year. Now the Eagles are faced with the tough task of competing with a new backcourt and no established star. There is a lot of uncertainty in this lineup, but for now, this seems to be the safest group.

The point guard position is still an unknown for the Eagles. If Perpiglia wins the job, it will probably be due to a lack of competition. His seniority could be useful, but it wouldn’t be fair to call a player with under 40 career minutes a definite contributor.

Carter was an offseason prize after transferring from Florida for his final season of eligibility. He’s a proven, yet inefficient score-first guard with the ability to make plays for his teammates. On a team without a true perimeter threat, Carter should have plenty of room for error as he becomes the primary scorer for a lowly ACC team.

No Boston College freshman in the near future will be able to produce like Olivier Hanlan did three seasons ago. However, Turner, who went to the same prep school as Hanlan, has the versatility to make a significant impact right away. His length and shooting ability will help him find scoring opportunities in what is destined to be a stagnant offense.

Owens has accepted role player minutes for the past two seasons. He will finally have the opportunity to prove that he can be effective in a starter’s role. Aside from being an active slasher, Owens will need to rebound at a high rate to make up for a team lacking in size.
Dennis Clifford - Senior Center

Clifford is the only returning starter, and will be the undisputed leader of this young team. He spent a lot of time in the 15-foot range last year, but the Eagles will need a consistent interior presence to slow the game down. After putting up 6.9 PPG and 5.5 RPG last year, the 7-foot-1 senior will be counted on to score in the double figures.

Since Boston College won’t be very strong at the guard spot, there will be time for Milon to develop. He’s already got a physical build and a sweet lefty shooting stroke. Milon seems to have a pretty inconsistent motor at this point, but experience against ACC talent will only develop that. He could find some starts as the season progresses.

Hicks is a question mark due to his inability to stay healthy. He’s a more talented lead guard than Perpiglia, but he’s yet to play a game for the Eagles. If he can play, he’ll probably be eased into the backup point guard role.

Diallo was also injured for much of last year, and didn’t appear in any games. If nothing else, he can give Clifford some breathers and protect the rim.
