Stadium: American Airlines Arena

Typically, Memphis vs. Ohio State would be one of the more intriguing games of the non-conference season. However, both teams bring a decent amount of baggage to the table in 2015-16. You know, like two losses apiece … and both teams have also only played four games.

The Buckeyes have lost back-to-back games and it looks like it might be a very long season for Thad Matta‘s squad (both losses came against mid-majors). The Tigers have one loss to the Oklahoma Sooners — which was expected — and another loss to a mid-major (UT-Arlington also knocked off the Buckeyes).

When the Tigers and Buckeyes take the court against one another, one this is very true: Either team could pull off the victory. Looking way into the future, the outcome of this contest very well could make or break either team’s season when it comes to making the 2016 NCAA tournament. I mean, both teams already have two losses, and are in search of a signature win.

Neither squad entered the season with a ton of hype, which is a first, and it will be all about finding that identity early on in 2015-16 thanks to both teams losing some talent in the offseason. That aside, give me Shaq Goodwin and the Tigers in this non-conference clash. Of course, Marc Loving and the Buckeyes should make things very interesting.

PREDICTION: Tigers 71, Buckeyes 68
