Stadium: HP Field House

Head coach Avery Johnson‘s first season hasn’t exactly started how many fans would have liked. The Alabama Crimson Tide are just 3-2 on the year, and they very well could be 3-3 after the contest with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

With that said, Alabama is coming off of a win against the Wichita State Shockers, which is a team that is expected to make the 2016 NCAA tournament (and then some). Alabama’s two losses have come against the Dayton Flyers and Xavier Musketeers, which aren’t looking like bad losses at all at the moment.

Then there is Notre Dame, a team that lost a good amount of talent over the offseason. The Fighting Irish are 4-1 on the year, but they already have a loss that will make many people scratch their head (the tournament committee included). That head-scratching loss came against the Monmouth Hawks.

As will be the case all season long, watch out for Notre Dame’s Demetrius Jackson and Zach Auguste. Jackson is putting up 18.8 points per game and Auguste is averaging a little less at 13.4 PPG, but he is also rebounding at a high rate (10.8 RPG).

For the Crimson Tide, only two players are averaging 10 or more points per game.

I imagine Johnson will have his new team rocking in no time, but he is naturally going to have some growing pains at the college level. That is especially the case when he takes on teams like Notre Dame, who should end up dancing once again.

PREDICTION: Crimson Tide 65, Fighting Irish 75
