The Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans remain undefeated to start the 2015-16 college basketball season and will probably believe that they deserve a place in the top 25 with wins over the San Diego State Aztecs and Tulsa Golden Hurricane on the road. They will have yet another chance to defeat a school from a top college basketball conference, as the Trojans travel to Lubbock, Texas, to face the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

The Red Raiders lost their second game of the season to the Utah Utes, but have since gone on a six game winning streak. None of their victories came over expected 2016 NCAA tournament teams, so a win over Arkansas-Little Rock would look great in March and ease some pressure when it comes to Big 12 conference play.

That being said, I’m surprised that the Red Raiders are the favorites in this one. Yes, Texas Tech boasts a solid defense and has two veteran players in Devaughntah Williams and Toddrick Gotcher, but their offense has left something to be desired this season. The Red Raiders have only scored 80 points three times this season despite an extremely weak schedule and are going against an Arkansas-Little Rock squad that ranks No. 1 in the country in points allowed per game. Texas Tech is an underrated team out of the Big 12, but they haven’t seen a defense like the Trojans’ all season.

Arkansas-Little Rock should get yet another road victory against a decent team behind the play of Marcus Johnson Jr. and the lockdown defense that has allowed them to remain undefeated so far. Maybe a win over the Red Raiders will finally get the Trojans in the top 25 – where they rightfully belong.

Prediction: Arkansas-Little Rock 64, Texas tech 60
