Kansas State vs. Oklahoma College Basketball Preview, TV Schedule, Prediction

By Trevor Lowry

TV Schedule: Saturday, Jan. 9, 4:30 p.m. ET, ESPNN

Stadium: Lloyd Noble Center

A quick note: Good luck to any team that has to take on Buddy Hield and the Oklahoma Sooners.

Unfortunately for the Kansas State Wildcats, they will have to take on Hield & Co. next.

The Wildcats bring a 10-4 record to this game while Oklahoma stands at 12-1. The Sooners are 1-1 in Big 12 play and Kansas State is 0-2.

Like most teams that are fighting for a spot in the NCAA tournament, the Wildcats have a lot of work to do — but they also have time on their side. K-State has dropped games against North Carolina, Texas A&M, West Virginia and Texas. Although they don’t have a bad record and have lost to some worthy teams, they are lacking one major thing: A signature win.

Meanwhile, the Sooners’ only loss came against Kansas, and you will likely not see a better showing than the one those two teams put on. Oklahoma does have wins against Villanova and Iowa State. Of course, the Sooners also have arguably the best player in the country on their side in Hield. Just in case you missed it, he dropped 46 points on the Jayhawks in a thriller.

Kansas State struggles to score the ball, as it is only averaging 72.6 points per game. It is only giving up 63.2 PPG, though. Oklahoma is putting up a whopping 88.5 PPG and giving up 70.7 in the process.

Although the Sooners are coming off of a loss, don’t expect that fall to continue. They are one of the best teams in college basketball, after all. That will stay the case as long as Hield continues to be a top player in this sport.

PREDICTION: Wildcats 69, Sooners 83
