Washington vs. Arizona College Basketball Preview, TV Schedule, Prediction

By Trevor Lowry

TV Schedule: Thursday, Jan. 14, 9:00 p.m. ET, FS1

Stadium: McKale Center

The Arizona Wildcats don’t bring the most dominating Arizona team to the table, but they are still the Wildcats. Translation: They are still expected to compete (and win) the Pac-12 title. Next up, the 13-3 Wildcats will take on the 11-4 Washington Huskies.

The Huskies have now won three contests in a row, and they also hold a 3-0 record in conference play. Meanwhile, Arizona has lost two in a row, and it is 1-2 in Pac-12 play. Needless to say, this conference is wide open … but Washington is the only undefeated team in Pac-12 play left.

The high-scoring Huskies are rather lethal on the offensive side of the ball. Here’s the proof: They are averaging 85.3 PPG (ranked No. 10 in college basketball in that category). They also have Andrew Andrews, who just so happens to be putting up an elite 21.6 PPG.

When it comes to putting the ball in the hoop, Arizona is averaging 81.6 PPG. Three players are averaging double figures in the scoring department.

The biggest difference could come on the defensive end, a place where the Wildcats are only giving up 67.3 PPG and the Huskies are allowing 76.8 PPG.

As easy as it would be to go against Arizona, does anyone really see this program losing three games in a row in conference play? Sure, Washington is red-hot (in a sense), but this is the Wildcats we are talking about. Not to mention, they get this game at home … and they have yet to lose a game in front of their fans in 2015-16.

PREDICTION: Huskies 70, Wildcats 73
