College basketball has been a mess during the 2015-16 season … in all the right ways. No. 1-ranked teams are falling on a weekly basis, great basketball is being played and, as of right now, the eventual winner of the 2016 NCAA tournament is a complete mystery — because there is no true No. 1 team in this sport.

Nonetheless, the Texas Longhorns will take on the Kansas Jayhawks next.

Texas has a 12-6 record going for it while Kansas stands at 15-3. Both teams are 4-2 in Big 12 play.

The Longhorns might have six losses, but they already have one heck of a resume. Here’s the proof: They have knocked off North Carolina (ranked No. 3 at the time), Iowa State (ranked No. 17 at the time) and West Virginia (ranked No. 6 at the time). The Shaka Smart magic is already going down in Texas — there’s no doubt about it.

Kansas isn’t too shabby either, which is what many people predicted. The Jayhawks’ best victories have come against UCLA, Baylor and Oklahoma. That said, one of the most complete teams in college basketball has lost two of three.

Two key players to keep an eye on for both squads: Isaiah Taylor for Texas and Wayne Selden Jr. for Kansas.

This has been the year of the upset, and there is no need to fight it.

The trending-upward Longhorns are going to continue climbing to the top of the Big 12 standings by pulling off yet another huge road win. Kansas being Kansas and Bill Self being Bill Self, watch the Jayhawks win by double figures.

PREDICTION: Longhorns 70, Jayhawks 68
