Stanford vs. Utah College Basketball Game Preview, Prediction, TV Schedule

By Taylor Sturm

TV Schedule: Saturday, Jan. 30, 5:00 p.m. ET, Pac-12 Network

Arena: Jon M. Huntsman Center, Salt Lake City, Utah

Line: Utah (-10.5)

After a rough start to conference play, the Utah Utes are finally starting to get the hang of things, as they have won four straight Pac-12 games, including a win over the top team in the Pac-12, the Washington Huskies. Just one game back from the top spot, Utah should be more than confident that they can put together more conference wins and surpass both Washington and the Oregon Ducks. Next up for the Utes is a home matchup with the Stanford Cardinal, who beat them already this season, 70-68.

Stanford, on the other hand, has looked pretty good at home this season but awful on the road. Their three conference road losses have come by 13, 14 and 16, which does not bode well for their road matchup with the Utes. Stanford beat Utah earlier this season at home by getting the Utes’ forwards in foul trouble, so the Cardinal will want to try and do the same on Saturday afternoon.

Utah has lost a bit of the momentum that they seemed to have earlier in the season, but they clearly have what it takes to win the Pac-12 and make a deep 2016 NCAA tournament run. The Utes continue to quietly rack up wins, and they should win big on Saturday against a Stanford team that is clearly on the downswing.

Watch for Jakob Poeltl to have a massive game to make up for his rough outing against the Cardinal a few weeks ago, and Utah will take another step towards the Pac-12 regular season title.

Prediction: Utah 70, Stanford 58
