10 Most Overrated Players In College Basketball Right Now

Year after year, players receive a great amount of hype before the college basketball season starts … and then the games are played. These 10 players are either not living up to the expectations, or they are simply overrated — you be the judge. Nonetheless, some of these players could still go very high in the 2016 NBA Draft … which is where the overrated tag comes in.

In no specific order, it’s time to check out 10 players who are rather overrated in college basketball.

10. Skal Labissiere, Kentucky

Skal Labissiere was ranked No. 2 in the 2015 reciting class (via ESPN), yet he is averaging just 7.5 PPG and 2.8 RPG. Clearly, not every single highly-rated recruit who comes to Kentucky can take the college hoops world by storm right away.

9. Antonio Blakeney, LSU

It was supposed to be Antonio Blakeney and Ben Simmons against the world at LSU this season.

Simmons looks like the most talented player in the game, as expected, but Blakeney isn't quite meeting expectations. He is shooting 31.2 percent from behind the arc and averaging under 10 points per game.

8. Marcus Paige, North Carolina

Call it a slump if you will, but Marcus Paige is not having the phenomenal senior year that we all hoped for.

In fact, the Tar Heel has only cracked the 10-point mark once since Jan. 4. This is a guy who averaged 17.5 points per game as a sophomore. His average in the scoring department is now down to 12.4 PPG.

7. Eron Harris, Michigan State

Eron Harris' transition to Michigan State hasn't been as smooth as some people expected. Nonetheless, he isn't exactly the lethal scoring threat that some imagined, and he is averaging just 10 points per game to prove it. That does not mean he isn't an X-factor for the Spartans, though.

Side note: Harris averaged 17.2 PPG in 2013-14 with West Virginia.

Here's all you need to know about Malik Pope: He has not met expectations.

The proof can be seen in his stats: 4.9 PPG, 3.8 RPG, 24 percent from three (12-50).

5. Angel Rodriguez, Miami

Angel Rodriguez certainly has his moments, and Miami has surprised many folks in 2015-16, but one might say his shot is a liability, as he is only shooting 29.6 percent from deep. Keep in mind that he has never been an amazing three-point shooter for Miami, yet he has still jacked up 98 shots from deep in 2015-16.

3. Isaiah Briscoe, Kentucky

Kentucky is yet another powerhouse that has done some serious struggling this season. Of course, Isaiah Briscoe was a highly-rated recruit (this is Kentucky we are talking about, after all).

The guard might be averaging 10.3 points and 5.3 rebounds per game, but he is also shooting 15.4 percent from three-point range … and 40.8 percent from the charity stripe.

2. Bryce Alford, UCLA

Bryce Alford is a very fun player to watch. That is especially the case when he goes off for 20+ points and makes it rain from deep. Unfortunately, the overrated chants have also come raining down on Alford over the years. Being the coach's son likely doesn't help.

1. Cheick Diallo, Kansas

Cheick Diallo, like many players on this list, received quite a bit of hype entering the college level (ranked No. 7 in 2015, via ESPN).

Well, Diallo is only averaging 4.3 PPG and 2.7 RPG. Of course, he is also only averaging 9.4 MPG.
