NC State vs. Duke College Basketball Preview, TV Schedule, Prediction

By Trevor Lowry

TV Schedule: Saturday, Feb. 6, 2:00 p.m. ET, ESPN

Stadium: Cameron Indoor Stadium

If you are a fan of the Duke Blue Devils, then this has probably been a painful season for you.

Here are two things to keep in mind for those Duke fans, though: (1) Your team won the title just last season. (2) Your squad only has six losses, so it really isn’t that bad … yet.

Next up, the Blue Devils will take on the NC State Wolfpack, which is a team that will bring a 12-11 record into this ACC clash. In conference play, NC State is 2-8. Meanwhile, Duke stands at 16-6 overall and 5-4 in conference play. Of course, with another loss, the Blue Devils will likely have no chance at winning the ACC title.

Nonetheless, we are about to see some big-time scorers in this game. NC State’s Anthony Barber is putting up 23.4 points per game. As for Duke, Brandon Ingram is averaging 17 PPG and Grayson Allen is averaging 20.6 PPG.

With a 2-8 record in conference play, it is easy to come to this conclusion: The Wolfpack have been awful since non-conference play came to an end. That said, their two wins, somehow, came against the Miami Hurricanes and Pittsburgh Panthers. College basketball, folks. College basketball.

Duke got back on track with a victory in its last contest, but it has lost four of its last six. The Blue Devils have plenty of tough tests left (they play in the ACC, after all), but they would be in the dance if the season ended today. Comfortably, might I add. If Duke loses this game, which will be played at home for it, then we will start comparing it to all of the other bubble teams. That seems a bit odd — wouldn’t you say?

PREDICTION: Wolfpack 75, Blue Devils 90
