Georgia vs. Kentucky College Basketball Game Preview, Prediction, TV Schedule

By Taylor Sturm

TV Schedule: Tuesday, Feb. 9, 9:00 p.m. ET, ESPN

Arena: Rupp Arena, Lexington, KY

Line: Kentucky (-12)

Surprising almost everyone after being one of the favorites to win it all to begin the season, the Kentucky Wildcats currently sit fourth in the SEC. The Wildcats, who have struggled heavily on the road this season, have already lost six games and many have started writing this team off despite March Madness being around five weeks from now.

Next up for Kentucky is a home matchup with the Georgia Bulldogs, who have also not been as good as many expected them to be coming into the season.

After finishing No. 3 in the SEC last season, the Bulldogs lost four of their opening eight SEC games. Since then, however, Georgia has won two games against solid opponents, the South Carolina Gamecocks and Auburn Tigers. The Bulldogs’ defense is solid, but their offense, which boasts several talented players like Charles Mann, J.J. Frazier and Kenny Gaines, is ranked No. 244 in terms of points per game.

Favored by 12 heading into the game, Kentucky should win this one fairly easily in Rupp Arena. Kentucky is a completely difference team at home than on the road, and no team wants to travel to Lexington to face a team as talented as the Wildcats.

That being said, Georgia is no pushover team and could seriously do some damage in the postseason if it could string some wins together and make it to the NIT. Mark Fox and the Bulldogs are in the midst of a transition year, but could salvage it with some big wins down the stretch. Watch for this team moving forward, but Kentucky gets the win at home.

Prediction: Kentucky 68, Georgia 60
