Pittsburgh vs. Miami College Basketball Game Preview, Prediction, TV Schedule

By Taylor Sturm

TV Schedule: Tuesday, Feb. 9, 7:00 p.m. ET, ESPNU

Arena: BankUnited Center, Coral Gables, Fla.

Line: Miami (-8)

Just one game behind the first place in the ACC, the Miami Hurricanes have won two straight, including their second conference win on the road against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Miami still plays all three teams that are currently ahead of them in the standings, so the Canes control their own destiny from here on out as long as they avoid dropping anymore games to weaker opponents.

However, their next opponents, the Pittsburgh Panthers, will have something to say about that, as the two face off for a continued shot at the ACC regular season title.

Two games behind first place in the ACC, the Panthers have looked good this season, but just cannot seem to string a few wins together in conference play. The team seems to panic when they start losing, and it continues to cost Pittsburgh games they probably should have won. The good news for the Panthers, however, is that their last eight games have alternated wins and losses, meaning that they are due for a win against Miami if they maintain that form.

That being said, I believe Miami wins this one fairly easily. Sure, the Panthers are not a bottom half of the ACC team, but they cannot win against the better teams in the conference. Miami does not boast the flashy stars of teams like the North Carolina Tar Heels and the Duke Blue Devils, but they do have one of the most solid all-around squads in the country.

The Hurricanes have yet to lose at home in conference play – that should continue on Tuesday night.

Prediction: Miami 70, Pittsburgh 63
