Texas vs. Iowa State College Basketball Preview, TV Schedule, Prediction

TV Schedule: Saturday, Feb. 13, 8:30 p.m. ET, ESPN

Stadium: Hilton Coliseum

The Big 12 is providing us with another treat on Saturday. Yes, Kansas vs. Oklahoma will steal all of the headlines, as it should, but there is another great matchup going down. Said great matchup is Texas vs. Iowa State.

The Longhorns have witnessed the Shaka Smart treatment already, and they are starting to get the nation’s attention as a result. Texas will bring a 16-8 record and 7-4 Big 12 record into this game. Its opponent, Iowa State, enters with a 17-7 record overall and 6-5 conference record.

The Longhorns might have lost their last game, but it came against the mighty Oklahoma Sooners on the road (by three points, might I add). However, they have knocked off big-time foes like North Carolina, Iowa State, West Virginia and Baylor.

The Cyclones are also coming off of a loss, which came against Texas Tech on the road. They have also lost three of four and are headed in the wrong direction at the wrong time. March Madness is almost here, after all.

Heading down a rocky path or not, Iowa State still has Georges Niang, and a ton of talent around him. And, it gets this game in Ames.

Both teams could end up doing some serious damage in the dance (you know, depending on the matchups, of course), but expect the Cyclones to bounce back against a very dangerous Shaka Smart-coached team.

Nonetheless, the Big 12 title race is still wide open, and both of these squads still have a shot at the ultimate prize.

PREDICTION: Longhorns 74, Cyclones 80
