Oklahoma vs. West Virginia College Basketball Preview, TV Schedule, Prediction

By Trevor Lowry

TV Schedule: Saturday, Feb. 20, 4:00 p.m. ET, ESPN

Stadium: WVU Coliseum

Easy games do not exist in the Big 12. Not when you have teams like the Oklahoma Sooners and West Virginia Mountaineers (among many others). Those two will take the court against one another next.

West Virginia is coming off of a loss against the Texas Longhorns while Oklahoma is coming off of back-to-back losses against the Kansas Jayhawks and Texas Tech Red Raiders.

The Big 12 title could still go to a number of teams. However, if the Sooners knock off West Virginia in this contest, the Big 12 title door will start to close for the Mountaineers. The same thing can be said if Oklahoma goes down in this battle. After all, everyone is still chasing the Jayhawks.

If the Mountaineers plan on staying alive in this race, they have to contain Buddy Hield … and that basically seems like an impossible feat at this point. The scoring machine is averaging 25.2 points per game.

Nonetheless, if the season ended today, both of these teams would easily be part of the tournament field. That tends to be the case when March Madness is just around the corner and you are ranked in the top 10, which both of these squads are.

The Sooners have already claimed victory once against West Virginia in 2015-16, and I am predicting them to pull off the regular-season sweep, which will put Oklahoma one major step closer to earning a No. 1 seed in the Big Dance.

When said Big Dance does finally come rolling along, get ready for, well, anything — it has been one of those seasons.

PREDICTION: Sooners 79, Mountaineers 70
