Miami vs. North Carolina: College Basketball Game Preview, Prediction, TV Schedule

TV Schedule: Saturday, Feb. 20, 1:00 p.m. ET, CBS

Arena: Dean E. Smith Center, Chapel Hill, NC

The ACC is on the line Saturday afternoon, as the two teams tied for first in the conference standings, the Miami Hurricanes and North Carolina Tar Heels, face off in Chapel Hill.

With the Louisville Cardinals, Duke Blue Devils and Notre Dame Fighting Irish one game behind first and the Virginia Cavaliers being a half game behind, the winner of this game will be in the driver’s seat to win the ACC regular season title. Even better for the winner, both of these teams have a game remaining against the Cavaliers, meaning that the winner can win out and take the ACC regular season title for themselves.

North Carolina has hit their first rough patch of the season. After winning their first eight games of conference play, the Tar Heels have lost three of their last five. It’s extremely difficult to win in the ACC on the road and that has shown in UNC’s recent struggles. Even if North Carolina loses, they should still be considered a legitimate national title contender.

Miami, on the other hand, has taken a backseat to other ACC teams in terms of national perception. Their record proves that this is a mistake, however, as they continue to knock off solid teams time and time again.

That being said, I doubt Miami knocks off this UNC squad at home. North Carolina has yet to lose at home since their shock upset at the hands of the Northeastern Huskies, and it will take a massive effort from Miami to win – one that likely will not happen.

Prediction: North Carolina 76, Miami 70
