Kansas vs. Baylor College Basketball Game Preview, Prediction, TV Schedule

By Taylor Sturm

TV Schedule: Tuesday, Feb. 23, 8:00 p.m. ET, ESPN2

Arena: Ferrell Center, Waco, TX

Since a shaky stretch in mid-January that saw them lose three of five games, the Kansas Jayhawks have won seven straight games. Not only do the Jayhawks continue to win in the Big 12, the most difficult conference in college basketball, but they continue to get better game in and game out, making them a heavy favorite to win the 2016 NCAA tournament.

Bill Self and his Jayhawks, however, are not looking ahead to March Madness and are instead focusing on the most important goal right now, which is winning the Big 12 regular season title. Two games in front of every other team, a loss now would let other teams back in the hunt.

Next up for Kansas is a trip to Waco, TX to face off with the Baylor Bears, one of the three teams just two games behind the Jayhawks in the race for the Big 12 regular season title.

After a home upset at the hands of the Texas Tech Red Raiders, the Bears have won two straight games over ranked opponents (Iowa State Cyclones and Texas Longhorns) to jump into the top 25 yet again. Surging at the right time, this extremely talented squad is tired of underperforming in big games, and it shows in their play.

That being said, do not let its No. 2 ranking fool you; Kansas is the best team in the country. The Villanova Wildcats hold the No. 1 ranking for now, but I expect the Jayhawks to do enough to earn the No. 1 overall seed in the 2016 NCAA tournament by Selection Sunday. Baylor will put up a fight at home, but the Jayhawks will have the last laugh and all but secure Big 12 regular season title No. 12.

Prediction: Kansas 72, Baylor 66
