Texas Tech vs. Kansas: College Basketball Game Preview, Prediction, TV Schedule

TV Schedule: Saturday, Feb. 27, 12:00 p.m. ET, ESPN

Arena: Allen Fieldhouse, Lawrence, KS

Two games ahead of everyone else at the top of the Big 12 standings, the Kansas Jayhawks would have to have one of the biggest collapses in college basketball history in order to lose their lead in the Big 12 and be forced to share the regular season title.

That being said, the possibility still remains, as the Jayhawks finish the season facing three of the better teams in the Big 12. Next up for Kansas is a showdown with the streaky Texas Tech Red Raiders, who will travel to Allen Fieldhouse on a five-game winning streak.

The Red Raiders have surged in the second half of the season, even going so far as to be projected as a No. 7 to No. 9 seed in the 2016 NCAA tournament. Despite their winning streak, however, Texas Tech’s resume still seems a bit shaky. Back to back road trips against Kansas and the West Virginia Mountaineers could make or break the Red Raiders, but a win over just one of these opponents could mean Texas Tech is in no matter what.

Unfortunately for the Red Raiders, the NCAA tournament-clinching win will not come against Kansas. The Jayhawks might be ranked No. 2 in the country, but they could be and should be No. 1. The Jayhawks continue to get better game after game, and Texas Tech is not capable of slowing down a team of this caliber on the road.

Kansas wins big and inches closer to the No. 1 overall seed in the 2016 NCAA tournament.

Prediction: Kansas 79, Texas Tech 66
