Miami vs. Notre Dame College Basketball Preview, TV Schedule, Prediction

By Trevor Lowry

TV Schedule: Wednesday, March 2, 7:00 p.m. ET, ESPN2

Stadium: Purcell Pavilion

When it comes to the 2016 NCAA tournament, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Miami Hurricanes are safe. And by safe, I mean they are locks for the Big Dance.

As it stands, Joe Lunardi has Miami at a No. 2 seed and Notre Dame at a No. 6 seed. With that said, one could come to this conclusion: If both teams go far in the ACC tourney, they could be looking at some very high seeds. Of course, only one of the two can come away with this battle.

The Hurricanes, who are just 0.5 games back in the ACC standings, have won two contests in a row. They weren’t just any contests, though. They were contests played against two teams ranked in the top 15 (Virginia and Louisville). Notre Dame, on the other hand, has lost two of three and is 2.5 games back in the ACC title race.

Nonetheless, this will be the second time that these two teams have done battle in 2015-16. The first contest, which came on Feb. 3, was won by the Hurricanes at home (79-70).

However, make sure to keep these two things in mind: (1) No one in college basketball is invincible — well, at least not this season. (2) The Fighting Irish get this contest at home, and home-court advantage is a very valuable weapon. After all, Notre Dame might be 19-9 overall, but it is 13-1 at home this season.

If the Fighting Irish can knock off the Tar Heels at home, which they did, then they can certainly pull off the upset against Miami.

March Madness, the stage is yours.

PREDICTION: Hurricanes 67, Fighting Irish 73
