The Oklahoma Sooners were one of the best teams in the country all season long, so good luck to whoever has to play them in the 2016 NCAA tournament.
The CSU Bakersfield Roadrunners will be the Sooners’ first foe of the dance.
Although the Roadrunners don’t reside in one of the toughest conferences in the country (WAC), they have still managed to only give up 63.2 points per game. For all it’s worth, they also have one of the best names in the tournament.
What To Watch For
If you have never heard the name Buddy Hield, then you likely haven’t been watching college basketball this year. Hield is the best player in the nation, he is averaging 25 points per game and he is likely going to be unstoppable in every tournament game during this year’s version of March Madness.
As a team, the Sooners are averaging 80.4 points per game.
CSU Bakersfield has five guys who are averaging double figures in the scoring department. Three of those players are averaging 12 or more PPG. However, as a team, the Roadrunners are only putting up 73 points per contest.
Prediction
Can the Roadrunners keep up with the high-scoring Sooners? Here’s one word to answer that question: No.
Yes, strange things tend to happen this time of year. Yes, a No. 2 seed has gone done to a No. 15 seed in the past. However, Oklahoma is good enough to be a No. 1 seed, and don’t expect Hield’s college career to end against a, well, No. 15 seed.
Folks, if you picked a ton of upsets in your bracket, hopefully you didn’t have the Roadrunners being the ultimate Cinderella.
