2016 NCAA Tournament Preview: No. 4 Kentucky vs. No. 5 Indiana

By Trevor Lowry

The Indiana Hoosiers and Kentucky Wildcats will meet up in the second round of the 2016 NCAA tournament. Let’s take a moment to thank the tournament committee for this matchup…

While Indiana probably could have entered the dance with a higher seed (they won the Big Ten regular season title, after all), they still managed to take care of business in the first round against the Chattanooga Mocs. Heck, Indiana even managed to drop 99 points in the process.

As for the Wildcats, they entered the Big Dance with a No. 4 seed, and took care of the Stony Brook Seawolves.

Nonetheless, two storied programs — and talented ones at that — will be going up against each other in this No. 4 vs. No. 5 matchup. Fireworks will ensue.

What To Watch For

As is always the case when the Hoosiers hit the court, folks (and especially opposing teams) need to keep an eye on Yogi Ferrell. He racked up 20 points and 10 assists in Game 1 of the dance. The best thing about the Hoosiers is the simple fact that although Yogi is one of the best players in the NCAA tournament field, he is certainly not alone.

For Kentucky, these two players will always give other teams nightmares: Jamal Murray and Tyler Ulis. Being a John Calipari-coached team, you know there are other talents flooding the roster — because Kentucky basketball.

Prediction

The Wildcats might be the favorite coming in, but this is March Madness we are talking about. Translation: There have been much bigger upsets in the past.

Regardless of the outcome, this could be one of the best clashes of the tournament, and for that we thank the tourney committee.

Indiana 81, Kentucky 79
