2016 NCAA Tournament Preview: No. 1 Kansas vs. No. 2 Villanova

By Trevor Lowry

The Kansas Jayhawks and Villanova Wildcats will battle it out in the Elite Eight — and this is what the NCAA tournament is all about.

These are two of the best teams in college basketball (hence Kansas’ No. 1 seed and Villanova’s No. 2 seed).

Although streaks, rankings and all that other fun stuff are meaningless once March Madness rears its beautiful head, the Jayhawks have not lost a game since — drumroll, please — Jan. 25. That was basically a lifetime ago … or that is at least how long it feels.

Of course, the Wildcats are coming off of a very impressive Sweet 16 win against the Miami Hurricanes (won by the score of 92-69). Kansas knocked off the Maryland Terrapins by the score of 79-63.

Needless to say, both teams have shown their worth in the dance.

What To Watch For

Both teams are stacked, so take your pick.

The Jayhawks are led by Perry Ellis and the Wildcats’ leading man is Josh Hart, but there are plenty of other players who can do some serious damage in the scoring department on both sides.

Translation: Watch out for everyone on the court.

Prediction

At this stage of the March Madness game, especially when two heavyweights are set to clash, who really knows who is going to come out on top. It all comes down to execution when two teams as talented as these squads take the court.

That said, give me Kansas in this Elite Eight mega-showdown. There wasn’t a sure thing to make the title game entering the Big Dance, but the Jayhawks were the closest to a said sure thing.

Nonetheless, get ready for a ton of talent on the same court, get ready for No. 1 vs. No. 2 and get ready for quite possibly one of the best contests of the 2015-16 season.

Kansas 71, Villanova 67
