Sean Miller, Arizona Continue to Come Up Short in Sweet 16 Collapse

By Anthony Blake

One of the biggest complaints with the Arizona Wildcats and head coach Sean Miller maintained its relevance with their upset loss in the Sweet 16 after a late-game collapse against the Xavier Musketeers.

After scoring 12 straight points to take a 69-61 lead with just 3:45 remaining, Arizona looked poised for their fourth Elite Eight appearance in the past seven seasons.

But then the wheels came off, as the Wildcats missed all but one shot over the final 2:54 and Xavier pulled ahead for good.

Even with six tourney appearances in the last seven seasons, Miller’s Arizona teams have yet to make a Final Four despite four of those squads boasting 30-plus victories.

And this latest meltdown only adds more credence to the claims of Miller’s inability to get this school over the hump.
