South Carolina Secures Final Four Spot in Stunning Upset Win Over Florida

By Anthony Blake

Heading into the NCAA Tournament, the South Carolina Gamecocks hadn’t won a game in the Big Dance since 1973.

Today, Frank Martin has led his squad to the Final Four after a stunning 77-70 upset of the Florida Gators in the East Regional Final.

The shocking statistic in this one was Florida’s ineptitude from beyond the arc, as South Carolina held the Gators to an 0-for-14 second-half performance from three-point land.

That lockdown defense ultimately made the difference as the No. 7 seed Gamecocks fought back from an eight-point deficit just before halftime to topple the No. 4 seed Gators.
