The Kentucky Wildcats were defeated by the North Carolina Tar Heels on Sunday afternoon after Tar Heels big man Luke Maye drained a game-winning jumper just before the buzzer.

Following the game, Wildcats fans found referee John Higgins’ company Facebook page and began to flood it with derogatory comments. The comments quickly turned more serious as Higgins reportedly began receiving death threats over the phone after some fans were able to discover his home phone number

Higgins reportedly met with law enforcement officials for two hours on Tuesday due to the threats.
