2015 NCAA Tournament Profile: Butler Bulldogs

Record: 22-10

Midwest Region – Seed: 6

RPI: 32

BPI: 23

Conference: Big East Conference

How They Qualified: At-large

The Butler Bulldogs have put together a solid season, hanging with some of the more talented teams in the Big East. Butler was the second or third best team in the Big East this season and also performed well in the non-conference portion of their schedule.

Making it to the NCAA Tournament is nothing new for Butler. It wasn’t that long ago that the Bulldogs appeared in back-to-back national championship games.

What You Need to Know:

Leading Scorer: Kellen Dunham, 16.7 ppg

Leading Rebounder: Kameron Woods, 9.8 rpg

Leading Passer: Roosevelt Jones, 3.7 apg

Bad Losses: at Tennessee

Good Wins: Over North Carolina, St. John’s, Seton Hall

Butler has shown that it can play with just about anyone in the country by beating North Carolina, St. John’s and Seton Hall. The Bulldogs also have a couple of close losses to Villanova, one of the best teams in the country.

Now, Butler must find a way to rally in the tournament and prove that they belong with the top programs in the country. A deep run in the tournament doesn’t appear to be likely, but no one thought the Bulldogs could make two straight national title games either. Don’t count this team out.
