Scheelhaase named FotW….again
Redshirt freshman Nathan Scheelhaase was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week on Monday, the third time he has earned the honor this season. He also earned the award on September 13 and October 11.
The Illini quarterback led the team to a 43-13 win over Indiana on Saturday, going 13-for-21 for 123 yards and two touchdowns. He also had 45 yards on six carries.
Women’s golf wins in Memphis
Freshman Ember Schuldt shot a 79-74 to lead the Illini women’s golf team to their first win of the season at the Memphis Women’s Invitational, held at the par-71, 6,176-yard Ridgeway Country Club in Germantown, Tenn. The third and final round was cancelled due to inclement weather.
The Illini were in fourth place after Day 1 with a 30-over-par 314. They lowered their score to a 301 on Day 2 to finish six strokes ahead of runners-up Memphis and Missouri State.
Volleyball begins second half
The sixth-ranked women’s volleyball team starts the second half of the twenty-game Big Ten schedule with a shot at redemption. They will host Michigan this Friday night at 7 p.m. The Wolverines handed the Illini (17-3, 9-1) their only conference loss of the season, winning 3-1 on October 9 in Ann Arbor.
