Multiple Reports Say Michigan's Rodriguez To Be Fired Today

By pauloconnor

Just do it and fire Rich Rodriguez, this extended public-hanging is ridiculous and unprofessional.

Both the Detroit Free Press and Annarbor.com have been reporting since this morning that Michigan athletic director Dave Brandon will fire Rodriguez when they have a meeting today. Initially the meeting was to take place at 11 am, but has been postponed until this afternoon. The football team has a meeting with Brandon set for 7 pm tonight.

There has been speculation since the regular season ended that Rodriguez was in trouble.

The Detroit Free Press is also reporting that Michigan alum and Stanford head coach, Jim Harbaugh is not going to accept the job with the Wolverines.

Speculation will probably turn to LSU head coach, Les Miles.

Rodriguez has had a rocky road from the get go at Michigan. In his three years he has never beaten Ohio State or Michigan State, and Michigan is coming off their worst bowl loss ever when Mississippi State thrashed the Wolverines 52-14 in the Gator Bowl.  His Big Ten record was 6-18 while his overall record was 15-22.

Michigan started out this season with promise as they were 5-0 at one point and led by the Heisman front-runner at the time, quarterback Dennard Robinson. Robinson was banged up for much of the Big Ten season and the Wolverine defense was nonexistent. Michigan was outscored 137-49 in their last three games.
