It’s Finally Official, Rodriguez Fired
In a press conference today Michigan Athletic Director Dave Brandon has finally made it official and has fired Wolverine football coach Rich Rodriguez.
Rodriguez leaves after only three years with a 15-22 record. It is the shortest stint for a Michigan coach in nearly 90 years.
Brandon said he had met with Rodriguez on Tuesday to evaluate “performance measures” in the following categories; competition on the field, recruitment and retention of players, academic performance, leadership and performance of players and coaches. Brandon met again today with Rodriguez to give him his decision to let him go.
Brandon also said he had heard, “a lot of Tim Harbaugh noise, and I am not deaf to it…But I personally believe Harbaugh is headed to the NFL.”
Brandon said he will start a national search for the right coach, that there would be no committee, he will handle the search himself.
