Damarlo Belcher Staying for Senior Season
Indiana Hoosiers wide receiver Damarlo Belcher announced that he will stay with the program and skip the 2011 NFL Draft this year. Belcher will be staying for his senior year.
“I believe it is my best interest to return to Indiana University for my senior season,” Belcher said. “One of my goals is to earn my degree and this gives me the opportunity to accomplish that. I am also excited about what we can achieve as a team. I look forward to playing for Coach Wilson and getting back to work with the rest of my teammates.”
The 6’5″ Belcher had 78 catches for 832 yards. Belcher was one catch away from tying the school’s single-season record of 79 catches set by James Hardy in 2007. Belcher’s yards rank ninth on the all-time single-season list.
“We are very pleased Damarlo is returning for this upcoming season,” Indiana Head Coach Kevin Wilson said. “He obviously is a tremendous talent and we are excited to continue his development into one of the top receivers in the nation. Not only is he going to improve on the field, but he is going to work very hard toward earning his degree, which is an important goal for all of our student-athletes.”
I look forward to Damarlo playing next season.
