Gator Bites: Florida Moves Up in Rankings, Mike Davis’ Amazing TD Run, Finley’s Arrest

Gator Bites: A recap of the days biggest and best stories featuring the Florida Gators.

Florida Moves Up in Rankings Again
For the second straight week, Florida moved up in the rankings. After being ranked 18th in both the AP and USA Today/Coaches Polls, the Gators are now ranked 16th in the AP Poll (which has no bearing on the BCS rankings) and 17th in the USA Today Poll (which is 1/3 of the BCS rankings. All-in-all not bad for a team picked third in the SEC East. Currently leads the nation in scoring defense, allowing 1.5 points per game. Stingy.

Gator Commit’s Ridiculous Run
The more and more I see this kid, the more and more I think he’s going to be special in Orange and Blue. On Friday night, Florida commit Mike Davis had 26 rushes, 252 yards, 4 tds for Stephenson High School in Stone Mountain, GA. Here’s the ridiculous video of one of his touchdown runs: Mike Davis – Florida Gator Commit

Finley Arrested
When Will Muschamp came to Gainesville, he preached doing things “The Gator Way”. Janoris Jenkins learned that the hard way. Now, linebacker Dee Finley could be in some trouble as well. Finley was arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license and resisting arrest, normally a felony. The resisting arrest charge was reduced to resisting arrest without violence, which now makes it a misdemeanor. Here’s what the Alligator had to say about the incident:

Officer William Sasser pulled Finley over at 1:49 p.m. after Finley drove his scooter around a barricade at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. Sasser asked for his license and registration, but Finley told the officer he was late and did not want to give him the information, according to the arrest report.

When Sasser told Finley he could not leave, Finley started his scooter and tried to take off, but Sasser grabbed his left wrist. Finley then snatched his hand away and “squared” to Sasser while still straddling his scooter, according to the report.

Sasser proceeded to whip out his department-issued Taser and told Finley to put his hands behind his back. Finley obliged.

We’ll learn more as the week progresses what Muschamp will do to punish Finley.
