NCAA Bball: Illinois wins Cancun Challenge
Cancun, Mexico- Illinois won the Cancun Challenge Riviera Division by defeating Illinois State, 63-59. Last wednesday ended the Cancun Challenge and Illinois came out the victor.
Illinois is now 8-0 against their in-state rival Illinois State. The game was extremely close. Illinois led at half with a score of 34-27. The largest lead Illinois had was just 7 points and the largest lead posted by Illinois State was just 5 points. So both teams were in this game from beginning to end.
Illinois State Redhawk’s player Tyler Brown missed a 3-pointer with a second remaining in the game. The score was 61-59, with Illinois in the lead. Illinois made two free throws immediately after, following a Redhawks foul, to seal their victory.
Illinois will play the Chicago State Cougars on Sunday at home in Champaign, Illinois this Sunday.
