The Rutgers Scarlet Knights will be the second team to represent the Big East in a bowl game when they take on Iowa State in the Pinstripe Bowl in Yankee Stadium.
Rutgers will be looking to become the first Big East team to pick up a win after Louisville fell to North Carolina State in the Belk Bowl on Tuesday.
Rutgers (8-4) finished in fourth place in the Big East after being picked to finish last when the season began.
Iowa State (6-6) has had a up and down season, but did knock off Oklahoma State earlier in the year.
Like many teams in the Big East, Rutgers wins with defense. The Scarlet Knights are 12th in the country allowing just under 19 points per game.
The offense on the other hand has been a work in progress, but has one of the biggest playmakers in the Big East in Mohamed Sanu.
Sanu has 1,144 yards and 109 receptions to pace the Scarlet Knights.
The Rutgers defense is led by Big East co-defensive player of the year Khaseem Greene. The linebacker is the centerpiece of one of the best defenses in the Big East.
Iowa St. is not anything special, but is extremely balanced on both sides of the ball. The offense averages 23.5 points per game which is only 86th in the country. They are clearly going to have some trouble putting up big numbers against the Rutgers defense.
On defense, Iowa St. allows nearly 30 points a game, but should be able to slow down the Rutgers defense enough to stay in the game.
This one will likely be close for a while, but the defense of Rutgers will be too much in the end.
Prediction: Rutgers 16, Iowa State 13
