Several Arkansas Razorbacks Hope to Be Selected in 2012 NFL Draft

You could make a case that three of the five best teams in the country played their football in the SEC this past season, and while LSU and Alabama locked horns in the national title game, the Arkansas Razorbacks made quick work of Kansas State in the Cotton Bowl. Arkansas featured an explosive offense, and the Razorbacks figure to have several of those offensive weapons selected in April’s NFL Draft.

Here is an early look at draft projections and scouting reports for the draft eligible members of the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Joe Adams- #120 Overall, #13 WR

Adams is an explosively fast slot receiver/return specialist who, like Alabama’s Marquis Maze, is plagued by his lack of size. He is easily thrown off his route and has inconsistent hands. However, also like Maze, Adams could be an extremely valuable asset as a return man.

Grade: Third-Fifth Round

Jake Bequette- #129 Overall, #12 DE

Bequette was a fourth-generation Arkansas football player, and he got a lot out of limited athletic abilities at defensive end. He has limited physical strength but he utilizes his large frame and his workman-like mentality to still have value off the edge.

Grade: Fourth-Fifth Round

Tramain Thomas- #145 Overall, #6 FS

Tramain Thomas is an instinctual, ball-hawking safety who will struggle at the next level with sub-par foot speed. Thomas leaves a lot to be desired athletically and as a tackler, yet his ball skills still give him an outside shot at being selected.

Grade: Seventh Round

Jarius Wright- #155 Overall, #19 WR

Another extremely quick slot receiver with limited size, Wright is explosive in and out of his cuts and also has exceptional top-end speed. Wright doesn’t have as much return experience as his teammate Joe Adams, but he does have traits to develop those skills at the next level.

Grade: Fourth-Fifth Round

Jerry Franklin- #176 Overall, #6 ILB

Franklin is a short and thick inside linebacker who will fit as a run-stopper in a 3-4 scheme. He’s not explosive athletically but he gets off of blocks well and is continually around the ball.

Grade: Fifth-Sixth Round

Greg Childs- #340 Overall, #38 WR

Childs stock is admittedly dependent on his relative health and most draft sites don’t have him particularly high on their board. However, Childs has prototypical size and a skillset that gives him considerable value. Obviously durability will be a major concern, but I could see a team taking a flyer on a person with that level of skill and size.

Grade: Sixth-Seventh Round
