Taylor Martinez Gets Help For Throwing Motion

By Paul Troupe

Taylor Martinez has gotten plenty of critique from anyone and everyone who watches football, including this very writer. The thing is, most of us do not really know what a “good” throwing motion is, we only see results. This time, however, Taylor is getting critiqued from a professional who is going to help him more than any of us can.

Steve Calhoun runs Armed and Dangerous Football Camp, which trains soon to be professionals for the combine. Now that you know the name, I’m sure your wondering who Calhoun has taught; how does Cam Newton and Jake Locker sound?

Taylor only worked for three days during spring break with Coach Calhoun, but improvements are going to be slow and steady. One of the first keys to be worked on is footwork, which many other critics have noticed about Martinez. They will have quite a bit to work on.

A quick perusal of the Armed and Dangerous Football Camp (or Training as noted on the site) says that they work with quarterbacks on identifying coverages, footwork, throwing technique, ball handling, and voice inflection among many others. All of that would be beneficial to Martinez, who has shown his young age and inexperience at the position in the past two seasons.

Nebraska’s quarterback has a lot to improve on and look forward to for the upcoming season. With nearly the entire starting cast back, Nebraska’s offense is supposed to be much improved and more consistent, one that could make them the most dangerous offense in the conference.

With a defense lacking star power for the upcoming season, for once the offense might have to start winning some football games. Nebraska has relied far too heavily on the defense since Pelini has arrived on campus, and now it is time for the offense to start doing their part.

And that starts with the quarterback, Taylor Martinez.
