2012-13 College Football Bowl Schedule Released

The Football Bowl Association (FBA) has officially released the it’s schedule for the 2012-13 college football bowl season.  This year there will be 35 bowl games to be played in 28 different communities in the United States.

According to the FBA, this year’s 35 postseason bowl games will host a total of 7,000 student-athletes, nearly 14,000 band members, almost 1,300 cheerleaders, 100,000-plus additional performers and close to 2 million fans.

The 2012-13 bowl season begins with two games scheduled on December 15 and then will culminate with the Discover BCS National Championship Game in Miami Gardens, Fla. on January 7.

There are some bowl changes from previous years, as the former Champs Sports Bowl is now the Russell Athletic Bowl, and the former Insight Bowl is now the Valley of the Sun Bowl.

The entire bowl schedule is as follows:

  • Famous Idaho Potato Bowl: Dec. 15, 4:30 p.m. Boise, Idaho /  Mid-American vs. Western Athletic
  • San Diego County Credit Union Poinsietta Bowl: Dec. 20, 8 p.m. San Diego, Calif. /  Mountain West vs. Brigham Young
  • Beef ‘O’Brady’s St. Petersburg Bowl: Dec. 21, 7:30 p.m. St. Petersburg, Fla. / Big East vs. Conference USA
  • R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl: Dec. 22, 12 p.m. New Orleans, La. / Conference USA vs. Sun Belt
