Bobby Bowden Wants The Joe Paterno Statue Taken Down
Bobby Bowden was once great rivals with Joe Paterno as they both fought to have the most wins in college football. Bowden has been retired for a couple of years and was on Cory Giger’s radio show Thursday after the Freeh Report was released. It painted Paterno in a bad light and showed he failed to protect kids and for that, Bowden wants the statue gone.
Will Bobby Bowden actually have an impact on the statue going away? Highly doubtful, but this does speak volumes if you look at it. Bowden and Paterno had a friendly rivalry for year and Bowden thinks the statue should go away. That says a lot. A lot of people are shocked to hear him say that, but it sounds like a good plan to me.
You can not keep that statue if you are PSU. It represents a scarred legacy and one built on fear and cowardice. Paterno have been a great man for a time but he failed to protect children. Idolizing him as a false idol should be punished. The statue should be torn down and a memorial for the victims of Jerry Sandusky should rise up in some way shape or form.
I have never been a fan of Bobby Bowden and very rarely agree with him. I think everyone in the nation can agree with this statement. The Paterno legacy is a false one and the biggest remaining representation of it should be taken away.
