Tommy Rees Suspended For Notre Dame Football Opener
Tommy Rees ran afoul of the law so Notre Dame has decided to suspend the quarterback for their season opener that takes place in Ireland. Although having your quarterback suspended for a game sounds bad, in this case it is actually a very good thing.
Tommy Rees is not what you would call good at football. Notre Dame could have been a lot better last year if Rees could have done anything resembling a decent football play. He just struggled all year and it does not look like he is going to get better.
This is a bad thing for opponents of the Irish. If Rees is suspended, he might lose his starting job. That means that he will not play and they might have to play against a quarterback who is actually good at football. That would certainly be disappointing for everyone involved. Having Rees out there helps provide a lot of funny moments for teams.
In all seriousness, hopefully Tommy Rees can come back from this and play this season. Everyone deserves a second chance, sort of. He might prove us all wrong and become a good quarterback. I even typed that out with a straight face. Tommy Rees might use this as motivation and become a guy that will make everyone feel stupid.
That is not very likely but stranger things have happened in the world of football. Notre Dame will probably be fine without him but that is why they play the game.
