The Top 25 High School Football Teams of 2012

Assembled is a preseason ranking of the top 25 high school football teams in the country for the 2012 season.  Only time will tell if these teams can live up to their lofty billings, but one way or another these teams will be playing for championships…

1.  Santa Margarita- Rancho Santa Margarita CA- The Eagles receive this ranking based on their offensive line.  They easily have the best offensive line the prep ranks has seen the last decade featuring Erik Bunte, Dane Crane and Riley Sorenson.  Plus they have an excellent quarterback in Johnny Stanton.

2. Trinity- Louisville KY- Trying to follow up record breaking 2011 season with equally impressive season in ’12.

3. Our Lady of Good Counsel-Olney MD- Kendall Fuller is the headliner on this perennial power.

4. Washington- Miami FL- Unreal talent every year.

5. Carroll- Southlake TX- The ideal prep football program in nearly every regard.

6. Don Bosco Prep- Ramsey NJ- National Champs in ’11.

7. Manatee- Bradenton FL- The Hurricanes finished ’11 number 1 in FL.

8. De La Salle-Concord CA- A quartet of FBS recruits (Michael Hutchings, Austin Harper, Victor Egu and David Moffitt) highlight this prestigious program.

9. Hoover- Hoover AL- Excellent year in, year out, in the heart of the SEC.

10. Plant- Tampa FL- The Panthers were a top 15 team nationally last year.

11. Rancho Cucamonga- Rancho Cucamonga CA- There is some major talent on this team.

12. Curtis- River Ridge LA- This tiny school just keeps on pumping out prospects.

13. Grayson- Loganville GA- Robert Nkemdiche anyone?

14. Gilman- Baltimore MD- Henry Poggi is the headliner on this very deep team.

15. South Panola- Batesville MS- This ranking is on respect.  They are always incredible, and the talent level this year is on par with years past (Antonio Conner and Deon Mix).

16. Bellevue- Bellevue WA- The Wolverines finished the 2011 season number 1 in WA.

17. Skyline- Dallas TX- Can anyone remember when they weren’t good?

18. Bishop Gorman- Las Vegas NV- The Gaels return Senior starting quarterback Jarrett Solomon.

19. Skyline- Sammamish WA- It seems every year Skyline has an elite offense, this year is no different.

20. Immokalee- Immokalee FL- The Indians have a ton of speed and athleticism.

21. Lake Travis- Austin TX- Anyone that wins state in Texas has to be on this list.

22. Vista Murrieta- Murrieta CA- Su’a Cravens leads an excellent 2012 squad.

23. Byrnes- Duncan SC-  The Rebels will have to overcome some youth, but should be excellent again.

24. Carmel- Carmel IN- The Greyhounds are the best of the Midwest. Again.

25. Ensworth- Nashville TN- Senior running back Corn Elder leads the Tigers one final time.
