ESPN to Broadcast High School Football Opener in Wisconsin

ESPN will broadcast a contest between Minnetonka (Minn.) and Arrowhead (Wis.) in Hartland, Wis. on Aug. 24 as part of their third annual High School Football Kickoff weekend. ESPN’s family of networks will broadcast 26 games in 15 different states this opening weekend.

The Minnetonka Skippers come in with an 8-3 record from last year, though those three losses came twice to Eden Prairie and once to Wayzata, both power houses in the state of Minnesota. Division I prospect LB Mike Redmond is one of the top at his position in the state and the anchor on a defense that looks to lead the Skippers to a state championship. WR Malcolm Moore is a leader on offense and has also received offers from Division I schools.

The Arrowhead Warhawks come in ranked number seven in the large division in the AP preseason rankings. The Warhawks look to improve on last year’s 8-2 record and to make it past Level 2 of the WIAA state football playoffs. DB Jackson Abresch, one of the top defensive backs in Wisconsin, will look to lead the Warhawks to a Classic Eight conference championship as well as a deep run into the playoffs. Abresch will have his hands full on Friday though,  going up against the Skippers WR Malcolm Moore.

The game can be seen on ESPN3 at 7 p.m. Central. It will be a fun game to watch as there is talent on both sides of the ball and it will pit two of the top teams in their respective states against one another. This game will be a benchmark for both teams and a great way to kick off the high school football season.
