2012 Big East Football: Over-Under Win Totals
Earlier this month, the over/under win totals for college football teams became public around the Internet. While these numbers are generally used for gambling, the lines set give an interesting picture as to who the bookmakers believe are the best teams in the country. Here’s a look at the Big East O/U totals for the 2012 season and analysis on if each team can reach or exceed the prediction.
Louisville Cardinals — 9
Rutgers Scarlet Knights — 7.5
South Florida Bulls — 7.5
Cincinnati Bearcats — 7.5
Pittsburgh Panthers — 7
Connecticut Huskies — 5.5
Syracuse Orange — 5.5
Temple Owls — 4.5
The oddsmakers have continued their backing of Louisville as the Big East favorite by a considerable margin. While it’s very likely that they will win the conference this season, don’t be surprised if they struggle to surpass their projected number and fail to win double digit games. That wouldn’t be a disappointment for Charlie Strong, but there is a contingent of Louisville fans who expect huge things this season. The Rutgers, South Florida and Cincinnati trio all look like solid teams who should be around their mark and bowl eligible. Look for improvement and an over in Syracuse, but struggles and an under in UConn.
